"The Gamay grapes from several plots located near the château (Les Rochaux, Point du Jour, La Madone) were grown on sandy and granite-rich soils. As is customary at Loron, the wine was made using the submerged cap method with a large proportion of whole grapes. The wine is fruity, fresh, full-bodied and refined, and perfectly balanced. Silky, delicate tannins give it a crisp texture. The 2018 vintage also received the Favorite." (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2021) What a success!

About wine:
The Gamay grapes come from several plots located near the château (Les Rochaux, Point du Jour, La Madone) and are grown on sandy, granite-rich soils. As is customary at Loron, the wine was made using the submerged cap method with a large proportion of whole grapes. The wine is fruity, fresh, full-bodied and refined, and perfectly balanced. Silky, delicate tannins give it a crisp texture. The 2018 vintage also won the Favorite.
About the estate:
The origins of the house date back to Jean Loron, a winegrower born in Beaujolais in 1711. His grandson Jean-Marie founded a wine shipping business in 1821. Now run by the eighth generation, this wine merchant also owns several estates, such as Ch. de la Pierre (Régnié, Brouilly), Fleurie, Bellevue (Morgon), Les Billards (Saint-Amour) and La Vieille Église (Juliénas).

About wine:
Produced from vines belonging to the Loron and Barbet families, this is a rich and structured wine. It is beautifully fragrant, juicy with blackberry flavors and fragrant acidity. Firm tannins beneath all this fruitiness promise aging potential. Drink from 2022 onwards.

A harsh wine with no pronounced fruitiness, does not age well.

Opened the first bottle, unpleasant surprise; opened the second, same thing, brettanomyces! Undrinkable, poured down the sink.

A fresh wine, a Gamay with red fruit notes and a pleasant fullness on the palate. Silky finish. The best terroirs of Fleurie are vinified and cellared here with mastery.

Note and opinion by Mr. GILLES D. Published on 04/24/2021
Lightly floral with a distinctly frank aromatic expression. Smooth on the palate, graphite, with tannins still closed. Premature opening? Sharing the same reservations as those expressed by Marc L., I find the enthusiasm of W. E. and Hachette exaggerated, to say the least. Score = 3.7. Drunk with oven-baked andouillette sausage with old-fashioned mustard sauce.

A pleasant floral fragrance, but overrated in my opinion.
