Hachette Wine Guide rating: 3*** (Exceptional wine) + Favorite
"An exceptional Côte du Py, produced from a 3-hectare plot planted with fifty-year-old vines, harvested late (September 28) to obtain the ripest grapes possible. Behind an intense purple color lies a delicious, delicate bouquet of sweet spices and black fruits. The palate is magnificent, both robust and smooth, rich and long, supported by fine, silky tannins that give it great elegance. A Morgon of noble extraction, to be served with capon this winter or in three years' time, and beyond. (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2014)

About the estate:

Owned by the Lafont family for several generations, this property perched on the Bel-Air hill overlooks the Ardières valley: blue granite buildings constructed in 1849, vaulted cellars, and a 23-hectare vineyard with plots in five crus. At its helm since 1985, Jean-Marc Lafont has created a wine merchant business under his own name to complement his range.
