Château Virecourt-Conté is located on the hillsides of Targon, in the heart of the Entre-deux-Mers region. The estate covers approximately 30 hectares cultivated using organic farming methods. Merlot is the dominant variety (about 60%), complemented in equal parts by Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Yields are limited to 45 hl/ha to maximize the concentration of the grapes. In 2013, multiple selections in the vineyard and in the cellar ensured that only the finest grapes were retained.

Organic farming has an impact on every stage of the estate’s operations.

The vines are debudded, suckered, and leaf-thinned, and legumes are sown annually in every third row. The grapes are tasted before harvest, after which they are taken to a modern winery with temperature-controlled tanks.

As a natural extension of this environmentally conscious approach, the team at Château Virecourt-Conté is now passionate about biodynamics.
