“A really pleasant feeling of firmness!”

“Reynon displays floral notes and hints of fruit, followed by subtle chalky notes that highlight the limestone. With a slender profile, the wine has tannins that lend it a certain depth. Its main strength lies in the harmony with which it unfolds, in a linear fashion. An elegant wine that can be enjoyed in its youth… and a little later as well.” (Yves Beck 2023)

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated 2 stars (A solid, recommendable production, though slightly more conventional and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

“Château Reynon, situated on the Beguey hillside near the village of Cadillac, belongs to the family of Denis Dubourdieu (the ‘pope of oenology,’ who passed away in 2016). Thanks to careful cultivation and technical expertise, it is now one of the most renowned wines of the Côtes de Bordeaux, producing reds and whites with a refined, elegant style, appealing for their integrity and freshness. We’ll keep an eye on the white and the red, which are consistently good and affordably priced.”

Wine rated (2023 guide) 88/100

About the wine:

From the outset, the wine is lively, almost tart, and quite sharp, with high acidity balanced by a lean, salty minerality. Hints of graphite, flint, and wet stone mingle with berry notes, while the fine tannins lend the palate a texture reminiscent of crushed stone, almost chalky. 2024–2032

About the estate:

"The reds are now among the best Premières Côtes de Bordeaux, thanks to traditional winemaking techniques and aging that makes sparing use of new oak barrels..."

Wine rated (2023 guide) 89/100

About the wine:

The nose is fruity, with notes of prunes, olives, black cherries, freshly turned earth, and a hint of geranium. The palate is full-bodied, juicy, and fruity, though the fruit profile is simpler. The tannins are fresh and grainy. Enjoy now.

Le Figaro Wines

Le Figaro vins

Wine rated (2022 guide) 90.5/100

About the wine:

Vanilla notes envelop aromas of raspberry and blackcurrant. The palate is lively, with a lovely acidity reminiscent of wild blackberries from the hedge. The tannins are very well-integrated, with a freshness that dominates the finish and lingers for a long time. A very pleasant sense of liveliness. 2022–2032

Wine rated (2022 guide) 89/100

About the wine:

Deep purple color with violet highlights and an almost black core. An aromatic nose of ripe fruit, black berries, and elderberry, with hints of blackcurrant jam in the background. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied but well-structured, with ripe yet firm tannins, restrained fruit, and subtle notes of aromatic herbs.
