Château Lescaneaut
An 18th-century family home in the Gironde region, Château Lescaneaut overlooks the Dordogne River. Lescaneaut is also, and above all, the vineyard, the land, and the name of the wines produced there. Six generations of winegrowers have succeeded one another, leading up to Malika, born in Lescaneaut and eldest daughter of François Faytout, who ran the vineyards until 2001. She and her husband Pascal Boueix then took over Château Lescaneaut in 2002 and have continued to develop a natural, balanced wine that respects the terroir. Some people "live on love and fresh water," but for Pascal and Malika, it will be "love and wine"!
"The ancestral estate of a free-spirited family, Château Lescaneaut produces a naturally authentic wine."
The Château Lescaneaut vineyard covers 8.80 hectares of complementary terroirs on hillsides for Merlot (75%), and on flat land for Cabernet Franc (15%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%) on gravelly soils (Graves Lescaneaut vein). The terroirs of Château Lescaneaut provide low pH levels, which give the wines their freshness. Lescaneaut has always taken a sustainable approach to agriculture and converted to organic farming in 2008..
