Château Lescaneaut
A 18th-century family estate in the Gironde region, Château Lescaneaut offers a beautiful view of the Dordogne River. Lescaneaut is also, and above all, the vineyard, the land, and the name of the wines produced there. Six generations of winemakers have succeeded one another, leading up to Malika, born in Lescaneaut and the eldest daughter of François Faytout, who managed the vineyards until 2001. She and her husband, Pascal Boueix, then took the reins of Château Lescaneaut in 2002 and have continued to develop a natural, balanced wine that respects the terroir. Some people “live on love and fresh water”; for Pascal and Malika, it’s “love and wine”!
“As the ancestral estate of a free-spirited family, Château Lescaneaut produces a naturally authentic wine.”
The Château Lescaneaut vineyard spans 8.80 hectares of complementary terroirs: on hillsides for Merlot (75%), and on the plains for Cabernet Franc (15%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%) on gravelly soils (the Graves Lescaneaut vein). The terroirs of Château Lescaneaut have low pH levels, which lend the wines their freshness. Lescaneaut has always practiced sustainable agriculture and converted to organic farming in 2008..
