Château de Monbadon
Château de Monbadon was built in the 14th century and is located in the town of Monbadon-Puisseguin, about 40 kilometers from Bordeaux. The Château de Monbadon’s 25-hectare vineyard (20 hectares of which are currently in production) is situated mostly on a clay-limestone plateau with a rocky subsoil, at an elevation of 109 meters above sea level—very close to one of the two highest points in the Gironde region: 114 meters.
The rest of the vineyard slopes steeply down to the foot of the château. Double Guyot pruning, debudding, and leaf removal are practiced to ensure controlled yields. Treatments and soil amendments are carried out using natural products. The estate is currently in the process of converting to organic farming.
Château de Monbadon produces a Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux that can be enjoyed now or cellared for a few years.
