Château de Monteberiot
Château de Monteberiot is an estate run by Gilles and Marie-Hélène Marsaudon, located in the heart of the Pays de Bourg in the town of Mombrier (northern Gironde—right bank of the estuary).
The Château de Monteberiot vineyard stretches across the hillsides of Mombrier, on a beautiful terroir of colored clays and limestone, in a very hilly area with a predominantly southwestern exposure. In terms of vineyard management, the goal is to give full meaning to the term “sustainable viticulture”: natural grass cover, soil cultivation, phytosanitary treatments limited to what is strictly necessary, and weed control between rows alternated with plowing.
From pruning to harvest, every effort is made at Château de Monteberiot to produce the highest possible quality of grapes, with the key priorities being… yield control and the pursuit of optimal ripeness (leaf removal, thinning, green harvesting). Guided by a plot-by-plot selection process, the harvest is conducted by hand or mechanically, depending on the desired cuvée. The grapes are destemmed and sorted on a sorting table before being placed in vats.
Vinification, aging, and bottling are carried out in Château de Monteberiot’s own cellars.
