“Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2015 Roc de Cambes displays very pure notes of blackcurrant, blackberry, and plum, with hints of cigar box, anise, and lavender. The medium-bodied palate offers generous fruit, superb concentration, and freshness, with firm, grainy tannins and a hint of herbality on the finish. ” (Wine Advocate 2018 - Robert Parker). Delivered in a wooden crate for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (excluding Pickup Point delivery method)

Wine rated (2019 guide) 17/20 (Reference wine)

Rated estate (2021 guide): 4* Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the estate:

This Côtes-de-Bourg, crafted by François Mitjavile, is situated on a south-facing clay-limestone hill. The brilliant owner of Tertre-Rotebœuf (in Saint-Émilion) has developed it with the same meticulous attention to detail to create a great wine. With a neighboring yet distinct terroir—more alluvial in nature—Cambes is not a second wine but rather another expression, more supple and velvety, of the talent of François Mitjavile and his daughter Nina. Both wines have developed their own distinct personalities in recent vintages, revealing a style that is original and brilliant, a far cry from the polished and conventional Bordeaux!

About the wine:

Another amazing Roc de Cambes, with aromas of smoky black berries and a palate bursting with ripe fruit and a smooth texture. It’s absolutely delicious. Tasted in April 2016.

Rated estate (2022 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

Here is a property that piques the curiosity of wine enthusiasts seeking a distinctive Bordeaux style. Inspired by François Mitjavile of Château Tertre Rotebœuf in Saint-Émilion, the production comprises the Domaine de Cambes (Bordeaux, located in the marshes) and Château Roc de Cambes (Côte-de-Bourg, on the hillsides). The latter is characterized by highly ripe grapes, aged in the traditional manner using the finest barrels from the Radoux cooperage. The wines, instantly recognizable, with intense and very oaky noses in their youth, age with charm, but may tire certain palates seeking a fresh and thirst-quenching bottle. The “smaller vintages,” with lower levels of ripeness, often stand out as true successes, much like 2007. A unique style, but one that can be divisive.
