In 1990, the Crémant de Bordeaux AOC was established at a time when sparkling wines were beginning to gain popularity. Since then, sales have continued to rise. An average of 7.5 million bottles of white (Sauvignon and Sémillon) and rosé (Merlot and Cabernet) are sold annually, produced by 200 winemakers.
