Château La Prade

Château La Prade, located in the Bordeaux region and owned by Patrick Valette, was purchased in 2000 by Nicolas Thienpont. The vineyards of Château La Prade cover 4.5 hectares of superbly situated land in the town of Saint-Cibard, partly on a limestone plateau and partly on loamy-clay-limestone slopes. The complexity of these terroirs lends the Château La Prade AOC Côtes de Francs wine subtlety and elegance.

The principles governing viticulture and winemaking at Château La Prade are the same as those at Château Puygueraud and are inspired by the methods practiced by Nicolas Thienpont at the estates they manage in Saint-Emilion, thereby ensuring a high standard of quality for all their wines. The old vines at Château La Prade receive more intensive care, with low yields and greater precision in plot selection. The wines are aged on fine lees, with 50% new oak barrels and malolactic fermentation in barrel. The preservation of the fruit, the pursuit of richness, and the beautiful tannic structure are the hallmarks of this Merlot-dominated wine, with its characteristic roundness—one of the finest expressions of the Côtes de Francs.
