Robert Parker

“From the visionary Bordeaux winemaker Bernard Margrez, this blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot comes from one of the oldest fortified châteaux in the Médoc (built in 1120). Its ruby-violet color is followed by aromas of graphite, blackcurrant, spice box, and charcoal. This 2011 vintage reveals excellent, even exceptional concentration, silky tannins, and a long finish. An unexpected success for this vintage, this wine is very well executed in what was a rather difficult year.” (Wine Advocate 2014 - Robert Parker) Orders of 6 bottles of this wine shipped within France will be delivered in a wooden case.

Bettane & Desseauve

Wine rated (2016 guide) 16,5/20 (Reference wine)

About the wine:

The estate is very well maintained, and the wines from challenging vintages such as 2011 are excellent, each with its own distinctive character and a most appealing body. A sure bet.

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Wine noted (guide 2015) 2* Favorite (Remarkable wine)

About the wine:

Once again, Bernard Magrez’s team has successfully drawn out the full potential of the terroir with this wine, whose color holds great promise, in which the dominant Merlot (57%) is complemented by the two Cabernets and a hint of Petit Verdot. The refined, subtle, and modern bouquet combines notes of cocoa, vanilla, and dark berries. Full-bodied and silky, the palate confirms the impression created by the nose. A broad aromatic palette, powerful body, well-integrated tannins, and a perfectly structured finish guarantee a long and rewarding aging potential.

Guide des Vins Gault & Millau

Wine rated (2015 guide) 17/20 (Outstanding)

About the wine:

Already noted during the early tastings for its intensity, it remains, today (January 2014), a commanding wine. One of the most impressive in the region. Yet it lacks any heaviness, and above all, its oak is very well-integrated, never overpowering. Bravo!

Rated estate (2014 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the wine:

A 2011 vintage that is also characterized by true finesse, without lacking depth.

About the estate:

"The château can now claim the title of the largest classified growth in the Médoc. Over the years, Bernard Magrez, the owner, has significantly expanded it through the acquisition of attractive plots. At the same time, the facilities have been modernized, and the style of the wines has become beautifully refined over the past few vintages. The dense, full-bodied wines that have long characterized the estate have gained significantly in refinement and elegance. We welcome this evolution, as well as the very reasonable pricing policy, which continues to make La Tour Carnet an excellent value.”
