Château d'Issan
Château d'Issan is a Bordeaux estate with a long history, making it one of the most renowned wines in Margaux today. In the 19th century, the Roy family equipped the estate with impressive cellars and vat rooms, enabling Château d'Issan to be included in the famous 1855 Grand Cru classification. Since 1945, the Cruse family has presided over the estate's destiny. Mr. and Mrs. Emmanuel Cruse manage it today and continue to passionately perfect the maintenance of the vineyard and winemaking techniques.
The Château d'Issan vineyard covers 30 hectares, stretching across a plateau of gravelly alluvial deposits on a layer of limestone or clay-loam. Château d'Issan wine is a Margaux made from a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot, the authentic grape varieties of the appellation. The blend is made under the supervision of Emmanuel Cruse, Eric Pellon, and Jacques Boissenot, the estate's consulting oenologist, before being aged for 18 months in oak barrels. The exceptional work carried out at Château d'Issan results in a wine that perfectly expresses the suppleness and finesse characteristic of the terroir.
