Château d'Issan
Château d'Issan is a Bordeaux estate with a long history that has made it one of Margaux's most renowned wines today. In the 19th century, the Roy family built magnificent cellars and fermentation vats for the estate, enabling Château d'Issan to be included in the famous 1855 classification of Grands Crus. Since 1945, the Cruse family has been at the helm of the estate. Mr. and Mrs. Emmanuel Cruse manage it today and continue with passion to refine vineyard maintenance and winemaking techniques.
The Château d'Issan vineyard covers 30 hectares spread across a plateau of gravelly alluvial soil resting on a layer of limestone or clay-loam. Château d'Issan wine is a Margaux crafted from a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot, the appellation’s authentic grape varieties. The blend is crafted under the supervision of Emmanuel Cruse, Eric Pellon, and Jacques Boissenot, the estate’s consulting oenologist, before aging for 18 months in merrain oak barrels. The exceptional work carried out at Château d'Issan results in a wine that perfectly expresses the suppleness and finesse characteristic of the terroir.
