Château des Cabans
Château de Cabans has been a family estate since 1840 and was listed in the 7th edition of Féret in 1898. Château de Cabans almost disappeared after the First World War, as its male heirs fell on the battlefield. Now purchased from Mr. Jean-Marie Aberne and operated by SCA Philippe Bérard since March 2003, this property expresses each Médoc vintage with great finesse.
Still one of the sure values among the wines produced in the Médoc under the Crus Bourgeois label, Château de Cabans made it into the new 2003 classification, which saw more than half of its former crus disappear due to a lack of reputation or consistent quality. The fact that Château de Cabans has maintained its position in this classification is in itself proof of its quality, as it has come out on top in a vertical tasting of five vintages. Proof of this is its first official tasting in Le Point magazine, which ranked it as a top-of-the-range Bordeaux product offering excellent value for money.
