Château Brillette
Château Brillette is one of the most renowned vineyards in the town of Moulis. As early as 1874, the famous wine guide *Le Féret* ranked it among the best in its appellation. After belonging to the family of the Count of Perrier de Larsan for nearly a century, Château Brillette has been owned by the Flageul family since 1975. Two generations later, they are still driven by the same passion.
Château Brillette comprises 40 hectares that make up the Brillette vineyard. Located on one of the highest points in the town of Moulis, the Brillette terroir consists of small gravel particles that, in fine weather, give off a distinctive sparkle—which is what gave the estate its name: Brillette! The clay subsoil naturally regulates water supply, with the clay absorbing excess moisture during wet periods and releasing it during droughts. The vineyard is managed using traditional methods (double Guyot pruning, soil cultivation) while incorporating the latest advances in viticulture (leaf removal, green harvesting if necessary), all in accordance with the principles of integrated pest management and a growing commitment to environmental respect (tailoring treatments very precisely to the vines’ needs).
The cellars and fermentation tanks at Château Brillette were completely renovated in 2000. As in all the great Bordeaux vineyards, a meticulous selection is made during blending to determine the lots that will make up the grand vin (Château Brillette) and the second wine (Les Hauts de Brillette).
