“This vintage comes close to perfection. The wine made a strong impression at the tasting, captivating with its bold fruit, blended with hints of milk caramel and spices, and its full-bodied, flavorful palate. The tannins are sumptuous—firm yet refined, without harshness—accentuating a rich, generous, and very dense structure. A touch more freshness would have taken it even further.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2022) - Delivered in a wooden case for all orders of 6 bottles of this wine (excluding Point Relais delivery method).

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2019 guide) 94/100
Rated estate (2020 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)
About the wine:
A very refined nose with just the right balance of intensity and freshness; the tannins are elegant and deep. This long-distance runner will reveal its full aromatic potential in the coming years. This is a truly great wine.
About the estate:
By entrusting the winemaking to Christophe Dussotour, Philippe Casteja has proven to be an inspired owner. The work in both the vineyard and the cellar pays the utmost respect to this terroir, ideally situated in the heart of the plateau. This wine is one of the least known on the legendary Pomerol plateau. The great finesse and freshness of the current vintage result in a wine that ages harmoniously.
Decanter
Wine rated (2019 guide) 93/100
About the wine:
An elegant yet serious wine, with tannins and flavorful fruit that aren’t drying, despite a fairly obvious austerity. There are plenty of blackcurrant and smoky dark chocolate notes in the glass, with a floral character that emerges after a few moments. This wine is made for aging, but if you want to drink a Castéja wine sooner, opt for the excellent Croix du Casse. They maintained an extremely gentle extraction and fermented at 26°C to ensure the tannins aren’t too powerful. A yield of 34 hl/ha. Best enjoyed between 2026 and 2036.

Rated estate (2021 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)
About the estate:
This charming estate, located not far from the church in Pomerol, belongs to the Castéja family. As such, the winemaking process is overseen—as with the house’s other properties—by the team established by the late Denis Dubourdieu. While never particularly showy at en primeur tastings, the wines nevertheless possess great character and age gracefully, in a very classic style.

Rated: Recommended
About the wine:
Delightful aromas of lavender, fresh blueberries, plums, pine cones, and mocha. It is full-bodied with firm, velvety tannins. Fresh and rich at the same time, with well-integrated layers. A smooth finish. Best enjoyed starting in 2024.
Jean-Marc Quarin
Wine rated (2022 guide) 93/100
About the wine:
A beautiful, deep, uniform, intense red, showing very slight aging. Very aromatic, fruity, ripe, and refined on the nose. Hints of ink, blackcurrant, and smoke when swirled. A touch of vanilla. Delicate on the attack, smooth and rich in the mid-palate, very aromatic; the wine melts on the palate and develops with energy and power, leading to a lovely, flavorful finish that is nonetheless delicately structured. It is very good.
