“The bouquet unfolds gradually. It is somewhat closed, suggesting that it needs some time to breathe. Once aerated, it reveals nuances of black berries, mint, and cocoa beans. The smooth, slightly creamy attack heralds a harmonious wine. It stands out for its freshness and character, which are in perfect harmony with fine-grained tannins that provide appreciable structure. A wine that is quietly coming into its own and clearly prioritizes finesse, grounded in freshness and vigor.” (Yves Beck 2026)

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2020 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)
About the estate:
By entrusting the winemaking to Christophe Dussotour, Philippe Casteja has proven to be an inspired owner. The work in both the vineyard and the cellar pays the utmost respect to this terroir, ideally situated in the heart of the plateau. This wine is one of the least known on the legendary Pomerol plateau. The great finesse and freshness of the current vintage result in a wine that ages harmoniously.

Rated estate (2021 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)
About the estate:
This charming estate, located not far from the church in Pomerol, belongs to the Castéja family. As such, the winemaking process is overseen—as with the house’s other properties—by the team established by the late Denis Dubourdieu. While never particularly showy at en primeur tastings, the wines nevertheless possess great character and age gracefully, in a very classic style.
