“The bouquet unfolds gradually. It is somewhat closed, suggesting that it needs to breathe. Once aerated, it reveals nuances of black berries, mint, and cocoa beans. The smooth, slightly creamy attack heralds a harmonious wine. It stands out for its freshness and character, which are in perfect harmony with fine-grained tannins that provide appreciable power. A wine that is quietly coming into its own and clearly prioritizes finesse, grounded in freshness and vigor.” (Yves Beck 2026)

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2020 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)
About the estate:
By entrusting the technical direction to Christophe Dussotour, Philippe Casteja has proven to be an inspired owner. The work in both the vineyard and the cellar is carried out with the utmost respect for this terroir, ideally situated in the center of the plateau. This cru is one of the least well-known on the legendary Pomerol plateau. The great finesse and freshness of the current vintage result in a wine that ages harmoniously.

Rated estate (2021 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the estate:
This lovely estate, located not far from the church in Pomerol, belongs to the Castéja family. As such, the winemaking process—as with the company’s other properties—is overseen by the team assembled by the late Denis Dubourdieu. While never particularly showy at en primeur tastings, the wines nevertheless possess great finesse and age gracefully, in a very classic style.

Terre de Vins
Wine rated (2026 guide) 94-95/100
About the wine:
The nose is immediately very powerful, with a full-bodied character and notes of black fruit. The attack is full-bodied and vibrant; this is a very rich wine with hints of mint and dark chocolate. Spices gradually emerge on the palate. Its beautiful tension ensures it has great aging potential.

Wine rated (2026 guide) 93-94/100
About the wine:
The bouquet unfolds gradually. It is somewhat restrained, suggesting that the wine benefits from some aeration. Once aerated, it reveals nuances of black berries, mint, and cocoa beans. The smooth, slightly creamy attack heralds a harmonious wine. It stands out for its freshness and character, which are in perfect balance with fine-grained tannins that provide appreciable power. A wine that is slowly coming into its own and clearly prioritizes finesse, grounded in freshness and vigor.
