Located on the Pomerol plateau, the Château le Gay estate extends in a single block over a cultivated area of 10.5 hectares. The vineyard consists of vines that are over 50 years old. They grow on a terroir of clay-limestone gravel. The grape varieties used in the blend for Château le Gay wines are 35% Cabernet—combining power and suppleness—and 65% Merlot. Catherine Péré-Vergé has always relied on her friend Michel Rolland to oversee the winemaking process for her wines. For this oenologist, crafting a great wine means treating it with the utmost care and bringing out the best qualities of the grapes—and thus the expression of the terroir.
