Château le Gay, owned by the Robin sisters for sixty years— —produced a wine on eight hectares that was renowned among the most discerning connoisseurs. Located on the Pomerol plateau, the Château le Gay estate extends in a single block over a cultivated area of 10.5 hectares. The vineyard consists of vines over 50 years old. They grow on a terroir of clay-limestone gravel. The grape varieties used in the blend for Château le Gay wines are 35% Cabernet, combining power and suppleness, and 65% Merlot. Catherine Péré-Vergé has always called upon her friend Michel Rolland to oversee the winemaking process for her wines. For this oenologist, crafting a great wine means treating it with the utmost care and highlighting the qualities of the grape, thereby expressing the terroir.
