Ratings: Gault Millau 16.5/20, RVF 16/20, Bettane & Desseauve 16/20, Hachette 2** (remarkable wine), Wine Spectator 88/100, Jancis Robinson 17/20, Jean-Marc Quarin 87/100
“It is a pleasure to revisit this vintage, which I have tasted at least six times since its release. It has become slender and taut, while retaining a fruit-driven core, now blended with notes of leather and undergrowth. The tertiary aromas are gently emerging, softening the already very fine tannins. A moment of refined pleasure.” (Les Meilleurs Vins de France - Gault Millau). A great Pomerol!

Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
Wine rated 16.5/20 (Very good)
About the wine:
It’s a pleasure to revisit this vintage, which I’ve tasted at least six times since its release. It has become sleek and taut, while retaining a fruit-driven core that blends seamlessly with notes of leather and forest floor. The tertiary aromas are gently coming into play, softening the already very fine tannins. A moment of refined pleasure.

About the estate:
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Wine rated (2011 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2009 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)
About the estate:
"Located on two terroirs—one near Clinet on clay-gravel soils, and the other on fine gravel soils in the Grand Moulinet area—Montviel was acquired in 1985 by the Péré-Vergé family. They restored the estate through a substantial investment program, including the renovation of the fermentation cellar. Over the past ten years, the château’s wines have steadily improved to produce an elegant Pomerol.”
