Château L'Arrosée
Château L’Arrosée is one of the most renowned châteaux in the appellation, situated on the southern slope of the Saint-Emilion hills. It has been owned by the Caille family since 2002.
Appreciated by discerning wine lovers, Château L’Arrosée is a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé with a unique style. Its hillside location and its blend of 60% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 20% Cabernet Franc. The terroir is distinguished by two types of soil, each planted with the same proportion of the three grape varieties: One section on the sheltered hillside southwest of Saint-Emilion benefits from ideal maximum sunlight exposure, with a clay-loam-limestone soil, while the second section occupies sandy-loam soils at the foot of the hillside. This dual terroir, which complements each other perfectly, contributes to the complexity and distinct character of Château L’Arrosée.
An assessment of the estate led to a shift toward integrated production, prioritizing natural cultivation methods and, in particular, sustainable viticulture. Château L’Arrosée has thus developed a mechanical weeding system. Here again, the goal is to restore the terroir to its full authenticity.
