Château L'Arrosée
Château L’Arrosée is one of the most renowned châteaux in the appellation, located on the southern slope of the Saint-Emilion hillsides. It has been owned by the Caille family since 2002.
Prized by discerning wine lovers, Château L’Arrosée is a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé with a unique style. Its hillside location and its blend of 60% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 20% Cabernet Franc set it apart. The terroir is characterized by two types of soil, each planted with the same proportion of the three grape varieties: One section on the sheltered hillside to the southwest of Saint-Emilion benefits from ideal, maximum sun exposure on clay-loam-limestone soil, while the second section occupies sandy-loam soils at the foot of the hillside. This dual terroir, which complements each other perfectly, contributes to the complexity and distinctive character of Château L’Arrosée.
An assessment of the estate led to a shift toward integrated production that prioritizes natural cultivation methods, particularly sustainable viticulture. Château L’Arrosée has thus developed a mechanical weed control system. Here again, the goal is to restore the terroir to its full authenticity.
