RVF - The French Wine Review / Guide to the Best Wines of France

RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France

Wine rated (2020 guide) 92-94/100

Rated estate (2022 guide) Cité

About the wine:

Though somewhat reserved on the palate at first, with a complex fruit profile that feels tightly structured, the wine draws its depth from its base of Saint-Émilion gravel. Its elegant style owes much to the Cabernet Franc blends, which release a sensual subtlety as the wine opens up. The aromatic character is preserved within a delicate crispness.

About the estate:

The estate, which has been certified organic since 2021, is committed to focusing on Cabernet Franc through massal selections. This clear vision aligns with the potential of the “Graves de Saint-Émilion” terroir, which is better suited to charm than to power. The latest vintages offer unbridled allure, subtly “Pomerol-esque,” at times languid, teetering on the edge of overripeness yet lacking in brilliance.

The efforts made by the owners and the meticulous care given to the vineyard and the cellar by a talented team have ensured a very consistent quality over the past decade, placing La Tour Figeac among the appellation’s finest classified Grand Crus.

Yves Beck

Yves Beck

Wine rated (2021 guide) 93/100

About the wine:

The bouquet is pleasantly fruity and subtle, revealing inviting notes of black cherries, licorice, and spices. Like the bouquet, the palate stands out for its finesse, freshness, and balance. This is a wine in its prime that can be enjoyed at various stages of its development.

Wine Green

Vert de Vin

Wine rated (2020 guide) 92/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)

About the wine:

The nose is fruity and balanced, offering elegance and harmony. It features notes of juicy blackcurrant, juicy blackberry, and, to a lesser extent, dark berries, combined with hints of blueberry, lilac, crushed/juicy raspberry, as well as touches of refined minerality, gray pepper, toasted/caramelized notes, and chocolate. The palate is fruity, fresh, mineral, balanced, and finely structured, with a mineral and subtly tart backbone. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of fleshy blackberry, fleshy/juicy blackcurrant, and, to a lesser extent, raspberry, combined with hints of small black berries, pulpy blueberry, as well as hints of lilac, blueberry, caramelization, and toast. Good length. The tannins are fine and well-integrated. A hint of cocoa and vanilla on the finish.
