“A wonderful discovery, full of harmony and with great aging potential!”
“Palais Cardinal 2020 offers aromas of blackberries and cherries, followed by a full-bodied, harmonious palate of great finesse, structured by ripe, velvety tannins. This estate is steadily improving its portfolio by purchasing high-quality plots and selling off those of lesser quality. ” (Wine Advocate 2023) - This Saint-Emilion Grand Cru is generous, perfectly balanced between fruit, finesse, and aging potential.

Vinous
Wine rated (2023 guide) 92/100
About the wine:
Palais Cardinale 2020 is aromatic, silky, and well-balanced, though not significantly more complex or nuanced than the Grand Vin. Notes of crushed flowers, ripe red fruits, cinnamon, cedar, and leather give it an alluring aromatic profile. 2025–2035
James Suckling
Wine rated (2022 guide) 92/100
About the wine:
A firm, structured red wine with aromas of blackberry, chalk, and white pepper. Medium-bodied. A fresh, slightly full-bodied finish. Cellar for 2 to 3 years to reach its full potential. Will be at its peak after 2025.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 90/100
About the wine:
The Château Palais Cardinal 2020 (73% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the remainder Cabernet Franc) is clearly superior to La Réserve and offers a beautiful aromatic palette of red and black fruits, aromatic herbs, acacia blossoms, and spicy woody notes. Despite being aged exclusively in new barrels, the oak is perfectly integrated, and the wine displays beautiful fullness, ripe and pronounced tannins, and a remarkable finish. A few years of aging will be sufficient to fully enjoy this wine over the next decade. 2025–2035
Yves Beck
Wine rated (2022 guide) 90/100
About the wine:
What finesse in this bouquet, where notes of blackcurrant and blackberry blend seamlessly with spicy undertones. On the palate, the wine displays an inviting and balanced character. It is well supported by its tannins, which offer firmness and finesse alongside its acidic structure. A harmonious and juicy wine. 2024–2034
The Wine Cellar Insider - Jeff Leve

The nose reveals aromas of licorice, smoke, grass, espresso, plum, and cocoa. On the palate, the wine is rich, opulent, delicate, fresh, and fruity, with silky tannins and a hint of peppery spice on the finish.
