"Perfectly on target, suave and refined as hell. It will be hard to resist! - RVF "
"The bouquet of Haut-Marbuzet is beautifully fresh, with dark berries and refreshing nuances in perfect symbiosis. The palate remains in line with the bouquet; it is delicious, inviting and fresh. Good aromatic expression, ideally supported by structure. The tannins are elegant, perfectly integrated and offer good support. A St-Estèphe with finesse. Bravo." Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2018 guide) 93/100
Domaine rated (guide 2021) 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)
About the wine:
A complete package for the vintage, harmonious, with a texture comparable to the best crus classés and a new harmony, perhaps due to the presence of a small proportion of remarkable Cabernet Franc from young vines. Tasted at Château Haut-Marbuzet. Drink before 2030.
About the domain :
This world-famous cru is located in Marbuzet, a hillside facing the Gironde. Its vineyards lie halfway between Cos d'Estournel and Montrose. Henri Dubosq, a key figure in the Médoc, has been successfully vinifying the estate's wines since 1982. In 2006, he joined forces with Philippe Jorand, a Michelin-starred chef, to enhance the 13 hectares of Château Layauga-Duboscq, located on excellent terroirs around Gaillan and Queyrac. The wines of Haut-Marbuzet are always of great constitution, combining roundness and voluptuousness, with a great aptitude for ageing. Haut-Marbuzet is truly an unmissable super-property in the appellation.
Guide Hachette des vins
Wine noted (guide 2021) 1*Star (Very successful wine)
About the wine:
Haut-Marbuzet 2017 has a superb, brilliant ruby color. Fresh red fruits, spices, licorice, undergrowth, the bouquet is also particularly expressive. Supple and round on the attack, the palate then develops a solid tannic structure that pushes through to the finish, leaving us serene about this wine's potential. 2024-2028

Wine rated (2022 guide) 94/100
Domaine rated (guide 2022) 2*Stars (These great estates, often endowed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the wine:
The 2017 has lost none of its charm and caressing quality. A Haut-Marbuzet perfectly on target, suave and refined as hell. It will be hard to resist.
About the domain :
No other Bordeaux cru can boast such a community of unconditional wine lovers. For over thirty years, Haut-Marbuzet and its truculent and dynamic owner, Henri Dubosq, now supported by his sons, have conquered the hearts of discerning oenophiles. If the wines have long been considered charming in their youth (which they undeniably are), but limited in terms of ageing potential, it takes tasting mature vintages of this Saint-Estèphe cru to understand that its terroir is above all capable of producing wines that age wonderfully. The old Merlots planted on blue clay give Haut-Marbuzet's bouquet superb truffle notes reminiscent of certain old Pomerols. Like many other wines, Haut-Marbuzet suffered a slight setback in the early 2000s, but its comeback in recent years makes it more essential than ever in the cellar of wine-lovers.

Vinous
Wine rated (2019 guide) 92/100
About the wine:
Haut-Marbuzet 2017 has a very perfumed bouquet, with aromas of redcurrant, blackberry and light floral notes. Seductively pure, but without the complexity of some of the best vintages I've tasted from this Saint-Estèphe cru. The palate is medium-bodied, with supple tannins, finely pearled acidity, good density and grip on the black pepper-tinged finish. Excellent, in line with previous vintages. 2022-2038

Vert de Vin
Wine rated (2020 guide) 93/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)
About the wine:
The nose is fruity, elegant and offers racy power, a little richness and concentration. There are notes of blackberry, ripe blackcurrant and, to a lesser extent, strawberry gariguette, combined with fine touches of violet and a subtle hint of spice. Fresh, fruity and balanced on the palate, with a fine, acidic structure. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of juicy/chunky blackberry, fleshy/juicy raspberry and, more lightly, blackcurrant, combined with fine touches of violet, racy gravel and fine graphite.
