“Owner Henri Duboscq created a sexy and delicious style of St.-Estèphe in 2005. With its dark plum, ruby, and violet hues, along with notes of smoky oak and espresso, a medium body, and plenty of fruit, this is a much more seductive and accessible style of St.-Estèphe than most wines from this appellation in 2005. ” (Wine Advocate 2015 - Robert Parker) A great St-Estèphe—full-bodied and structured with a delicate and subtle profile. A prestigious cuvée, seductive and accessible from the great 2005 vintage! - Delivered in a wooden case for orders of 12 bottles of this wine (excluding Pickup Point delivery method)

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated 17/20 (Top-rated wine)
Rated estate (2021 guide): 4* Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)
About the wine:
A very classic Saint-Estèphe on the nose, full-bodied, smooth, long, complex, with savory tannins—a fairly immediate and compelling expression of a truly fine vintage!
About the estate:
This world-renowned wine is produced in Marbuzet, a hillside facing the Gironde River. Its vineyards are situated halfway between Cos d’Estournel and Montrose. Henri Dubosq, a leading figure in the Médoc, has been crafting the estate’s wines with great success since 1982. In 2006, he partnered with Michelin-starred chef Philippe Jorand to enhance the 13 hectares of Château Layauga-Duboscq, situated on prime terroirs around Gaillan and Queyrac. The wines of Haut-Marbuzet have always been full-bodied, combining roundness and richness, with great aging potential. Haut-Marbuzet is truly a superb, must-visit estate within the appellation.
Guide Hachette des vins
Wine noted (guide 2009) 1*Star (Very successful wine)
About the wine:
Founded in 1848 following the division of the MacCarthy estates, this château has been owned by the Duboscq family for over half a century. Henri, the father, played a major role in establishing this estate’s reputation, which is primarily due to the exceptional quality of its wines. The 2005 vintage is no exception, with its intense garnet color from which aromas of red fruit, toasted hazelnut, and coffee emerge. Full-bodied and powerful, the palate is structured by woody tannins that require five to eight years of cellaring to integrate into the wine.

Wine rated (2007 guide) 17/20 (Great wine)
Rated estate (2022 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)
About the estate:
No other Bordeaux estate can claim to have such a devoted community of enthusiasts. For over thirty years, Haut-Marbuzet and its colorful and dynamic owner, Henri Dubosq—now supported by his sons—have won the hearts of discerning wine lovers. While these wines have long been considered charming in their youth (which they undeniably are), yet limited in terms of aging potential, one must taste the mature vintages of this Saint-Estèphe estate to understand that its terroir is above all capable of producing wines that age beautifully. The old Merlot vines planted on blue clay lend Haut-Marbuzet’s bouquet superb truffle notes reminiscent of certain old Pomerols. Like many others, the estate experienced a slight dip in form at the start of the 2000s, but its strong comeback in recent years makes it more indispensable than ever in the cellar of any wine lover.

It's delicious, velvety, and still has a wonderful aroma, but don't wait too long.

I discovered this château as a reliable choice from an appellation renowned for its full-bodied wines: I was a bit disappointed. Aromas of black fruit, good acidity, and well-integrated, woody tannins. Lacks body—has it passed its peak? I’d like to taste a more recent vintage to better understand this château’s profile.
