Eye
Very deep garnet color, enhanced by superb purple highlights
Nose
Explosive, exuding notes of crushed raspberry, cherry brandy, and bitter cocoa. These are supported by intense floral notes reminiscent of a bouquet of spring flowers, followed by aromas of cedar and sandalwood.
Mouth
A broad attack, rich and full-bodied, leads to a dense palate with powerful, velvety texture. The generosity of the 2016 vintage is evident in this perfect balance between freshness and richness. Cherry flavors come through fully, enhanced by notes of orange peel, chocolate, and nutmeg. The long finish is accompanied by chalky tannins, characteristic of the great success of Merlot grapes on our asteriated limestone terroirs.

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2021 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About the estate:
After passing Cos d'Estournel, and facing Lafon-Rochet, the two towers of Lilian-Ladouys emerge from a sea of vines. This 47-hectare property was purchased by Jacky Lorenzetti in September 2008. As at Pédesclaux, technical supervision is provided by Vincent Bache-Gabrielsen. Dense and colorful, the wines offer immediate appeal. The archetype of a super Bordeaux.
Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2022 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About the estate:
In the 14th century, La Doys was a farmstead belonging to Lafite. After enjoying its heyday at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries under the name Ch. Ladouys, this wine had practically disappeared. It was revived (and renamed after his wife) by Christian Thiéblot in the 1980s, then by Natexis from 1989 onwards. In 2008, there was another change of ownership with Jacky and Françoise Lorenzetti (Pédesclaux in Pauillac), who sold their network of real estate agencies to invest in the vineyard. They undertook a vast program to restructure the 45 hectares of vines.
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Wine rating (2018 guide) 91/100 (Excellent wine)
Rated estate (2019 guide) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About wine:
The Lilian Ladouys 2016 is a blend of 62% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 6% Petit Verdot aged in 30% new French oak for 15 months. Medium to deep purple-garnet in color, it sings of baked plums, crème de cassis, and Black Forest cake with bay leaves, pencil lead, and menthol. Medium-bodied, elegant, and filled with layers of vibrant flavor, it has a very long finish.

Rated estate (2023 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)
About wine:
With its robust structure, fruit that unfolds in the mouth, and abundant yet refined tannins, the 2016 vintage stands out as a benchmark for the cru.
About the estate:
Having had several owners who did not always know how to exploit its potential, the discreet Château Lilian Ladouys was bought by businessman Jacky Lorenzetti in 2008. Lorenzetti, who subsequently acquired Château Pédesclaux in Pauillac and Château Lafon Rochet in Saint-Estèphe, has great ambitions for his wines. Lilian Ladouys, which has undergone extensive renovation in recent years, has found a very respectable cruising speed over the last few vintages. The wine deserves the attention of wine lovers.

About wine:
The aromas of blueberry and blackberry are certainly appealing here. Full-bodied and dense with a very velvety texture and a long, generous finish of ripe fruit and spices. Drink from 2022 onwards.

Still a little young, decent for the price, but found at Intermarché at the recent 2020 wine fair for 20% less, not counting the cashback on the store card.
