Château Branaire-Ducru
Château Branaire-Ducru is located in the heart of the Médoc, in the commune of Saint-Julien, forty kilometers from Bordeaux, between Margaux and Pauillac. The fifty hectares of Château Branaire-Ducru’s vineyards are spread across several plots, running east to west in the southern part of the appellation. The soils and subsoils of Château Branaire-Ducru consist of Quaternary gravelly-siliceous alluvial deposits. These terroirs, considered the warmest in the region, allow for the perfect ripening of Cabernet Sauvignon or later-ripening grape varieties such as Petit Verdot. Château Branaire-Ducru boasts a particularly old vineyard, with many plots around fifty years old and some over a century old.

It is from these venerable vines that Château Branaire-Ducru’s Grand Cru is crafted, while Duluc, the second wine, comes from the estate’s younger vines. The grape varieties are traditional. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc dominate, accounting for 74 percent of the vineyard area, while Merlot accounts for 22 percent and Petit Verdot for 4 percent.
