Château Lalande-Borie
Château Lalande-Borie was founded in 1970 by Jean-Eugène Borie on the Lalande terroir, which he acquired that year from a Saint-Julien Grand Cru Classé and to which he added his family name. Now managed by Jean-Eugène Borie SA, this estate—which quickly earned a fine reputation—is owned by Madame Jean-Eugène Borie, her daughter Sabine Coiffe, and her son Bruno-Eugène (Chairman of the Board).

Château Lalande-Borie is located in the western part of the Saint-Julien appellation. The estate, situated at the heart of the terroirs of several renowned Grand Cru Classés, consists of a single plot spanning 30 hectares, 22 of which are currently planted with vines. The soil consists of light gravel overlying a subsoil of coarser gravel and clay. Of the 22 hectares of Château Lalande-Borie’s current vineyard, 65% is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% with Merlot Noir, and 10% with Cabernet Franc. With a density of 8,500 vines per hectare, the vineyard is managed using traditional methods (Medoc pruning, double Guyot, etc.), while incorporating the latest advances in viticulture: manual leaf removal, green harvesting in summer, partial grass cover, yield control, and sustainable pest management.
