Rated estate (2018 guide): 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)
About the estate:
A sure bet for all lovers of refined white wines, this estate is one of the oldest in Puligny-Montrachet. It boasts a fine portfolio of vineyards that are skillfully managed. Since 2004, following in his father’s footsteps, Jean-Michel Chartron has been cultivating his vineyards using organic farming methods without seeking certification. The proportion of new oak has been reduced, and since 2009, the wines have gained considerably in depth and clarity, shedding the overly oaky character that previously prevented them from fully expressing themselves.
