Domaine de la Ferté - Givry Clos de Mortières 2015

Domaine de la Ferté - Givry Clos de Mortières 2015

15/20

Bettane & Desseauve

(Notes from the 2014 vintage)

Aged for 12 months in barrels, Givry Clos de Mortières expresses itself through delicious fruity aromas with a hint of violet. On the palate, the dominant fruity character is supported by supple tannins. A very pleasant wine that pairs well with red meats and strong cheeses.

Wine rating (2017 guide) 15/20 (2014 vintage) (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2025 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

Located in Givry, this small 2.5-hectare estate is run by the Devillard family, who also own Château de Chamirey. It consists of three plots, two in the village appellation, including Clos Mortière, and one in the Servoisine premier cru. The vines are cultivated using sustainable methods under the guidance of Enrico Peyron, with manual harvesting and long aging. The parcels are adjacent and very well located within the appellation. Quantities are therefore limited but produced with care comparable to the estate's Mercureys wines.

About the estate:

This estate owes its name to La Ferté Abbey, the first daughter of Cîteaux Abbey, built in the early 7th century. Cultivated by Cistercian monks until the Revolution, the 2.4 hectares of this estate were taken over in 1995 by Bertrand Devillard (Ch. de Chamirey, Dom. des Perdrix).
