Domaine de la Ferté - Givry Clos de Mortières 2015

15/20

Bettane & Desseauve

(2014 Vintage Notes)

Aged for 12 months in oak barrels, the Givry Clos de Mortières offers rich, fruity aromas with a hint of violet. On the palate, the dominant fruitiness is supported by supple tannins. A very pleasant wine that pairs well with red meats and bold cheeses.

Rated wine (2017 guide) 15/20 (2014 vintage) (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2025 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)

About the estate:

Located in Givry, this small 2.5-hectare estate is run by the Devillard family, who also own Château de Chamirey. It consists of three plots: two in the village appellation, including Clos Mortière, and one in the Premier Cru Servoisine. The vineyards are managed using sustainable viticulture practices under the guidance of Enrico Peyron; harvesting is done by hand, and aging is extended. The plots are adjacent and exceptionally well-situated within the appellation. Yields are therefore limited but produced with a level of care comparable to the estate’s Mercurey wines.

About the estate:

This estate takes its name from the Abbey of La Ferté, the first daughter of the Abbey of Cîteaux, founded in the early 12th century. Cultivated by Cistercian monks until the French Revolution, the estate’s 2.4 hectares were taken over in 1995 by Bertrand Devillard (Château de Chamirey, Domaine des Perdrix).
