Mâcon-Loché
In Saône-et-Loire, there is a Maconnaise appellation for dry Burgundian white wines: Mâcon-Loché. This appellation complements the regional "Mâcon" appellation and covers nearly 26 hectares of vineyards within a defined area in the municipality of Mâcon. It is bounded by the Mâcon-Vinzelles appellation to the south, the Petite Grosne valley to the north, and the Pouilly-Loché appellation to the west.
Its terroir offers a rich variety of soils composed largely of Saône sand and ancient alluvial terraces at an elevation of 190 to 220 meters, with a warm, southern climate.
The wines produced from this vineyard are generally expressive and generous Chardonnays with a supple, mouth-watering texture. The aromas that delight the nose include yellow-fleshed fruits—such as peach and quince—complemented by more spicy notes: vanilla, licorice, and beeswax.
