"This Mercurey 1er Cru remains the quintessence of the Côte Chalonnaise thanks to the expression of its Pinot Noir!"

With a beautiful deep ruby color, this Mercurey 1er Cru from the renowned Clos L’Evêque vineyard displays rich, pronounced aromas of ripe plum, accented by notes of dark chocolate. Its fine-grained tannins give it a full-bodied, characterful profile, with a lovely balance, surprising vibrancy, and a long, elegant, aromatic finish.

Rated estate (2024 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)

About the estate:

The Suremain estate is probably one of the most surprising ones we’ve encountered in recent years. Blessed with some of Mercurey’s finest Premier Cru vineyards, Loïc de Suremain, with the help of his parents Yves and Marie-Hélène, manages the estate’s 18 hectares. A particular focus on respecting the terroirs yields Mercurey wines with distinct characteristics and nuances. Loïc, passionate about viticulture, strives to develop wines with greater fruitiness and consistency, grounded in a deep understanding of his soils. The winery has been completely renovated and expanded; the wines are becoming increasingly precise and score perfectly in our blind tastings. The progress is remarkable and once again places the 2021 vintage among the top three in the appellation.
