"Building on its success, this Blanc de Blancs asserts itself as a bold, elegant, and atypical wine."

"Magnificent nose of white flowers with aromas of candied lemon peel underscored by a delicate character of white bread with just a hint of toast. Generous and elegant on the first taste, then the salty and chalky character builds beautifully, balancing the dosage very nicely on the long, polished finish." (James Suckling 2023).

Wine rated (2024 guide) 94/100

Rated estate (2024 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)

About the estate:

The jewel in the crown of the Descours family, Charles Heidsieck deserves to be considered one of today's most brilliant brands. It owes this status to the superb definition of each of its champagnes and the mellow, smooth roundness that is so characteristic of the "Charles style." The house style is not based on power, tension or minerality, but on elegance.

About wine:

Buttery with aromas of apple pie, vanilla pastry, and dried fruit. On the palate, there are notes of toasted bread and citrus. A mature and evolved style that is carefully balanced.

Wine rating (2023 guide) 91/100 (Outstanding wine)

About wine:

Disgorged in 2022, the latest version of Charles Heidsieck NV Blanc de Blancs has a captivating bouquet with aromas of honeysuckle, lemon oil, citrus, peach, mandarin, and delicate pastry notes, followed by a medium-bodied to full-bodied palate that is round and creamy, layered and elegant, ending with chalky and brioche notes. A little time in the cellar will be more than beneficial.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 90/100

Rated estate (2024 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About wine:

The blanc de blancs has a well-toasted profile linked to reduction on lees. The nose is nutty, with notes of breadcrumbs, cereals, and brioche—the full range of expected aromas. The round juice on the palate seems to be further enhanced by the dosage.

About the estate:

This small house, founded in 1851 in Reims and well known to discerning connoisseurs, owes its success to the style of its vinous, rounded champagnes. With a very high proportion of reserve wines in the blend (40%) and a dosage of 8g, Charles-Heidsieck's non-vintage brut cultivates an original style, somewhat contrary to certain trends, but with an undeniable personality. Since the house was bought by the Descours family in 2011, a new era has begun for the house, which, without losing its soul, is returning to the forefront with a complete range of high-quality wines. A trajectory that we are rewarding with a second star.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 92/100

About wine:

Sourced from different terroirs in the region for the Chardonnay, it opens in the glass with more reserved and delicate aromas of citrus pulp and white flowers, with a deeper mineral tone underneath. Juicy and full-bodied, it is more expressive on the palate, with notes of ripe fresh pear and roundness, and a creamy texture. It is very appealing and, although it needs a little coaxing when first opened, it is a very appealing, ripe and juicy style of Blanc de Blancs that bears the signature of Heidsieck. Drink between 2023 and 2030.
