"Building on its success, this Blanc de Blancs stands out as a bold, elegant, and unique wine"

“A magnificent nose of white flowers with aromas of candied lemon peel, underscored by a delicate note of white bread with just a hint of toast. Both generous and elegant on the palate at first, then the salty and chalky character develops beautifully, balancing the dosage very nicely in the long, polished finish.” (James Suckling 2023).

Wine rated (2024 guide) 94/100

Rated estate (2024 guide) 4*Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the estate:

As the crown jewel of the Descours family’s Piper brand, Charles Heidsieck richly deserves to be considered one of today’s most outstanding brands. It owes this status to the superb character of each of its champagnes and to the smooth, mellow roundness that is so characteristic of the “Charles style.” The house’s style is not based on power, tension, or minerality, but on elegance.

About the wine:

Buttery, with notes of apple pie, vanilla pastry, and dried fruit. On the palate, there are hints of matchsticks and toasted citrus. A mature, evolved style that is carefully balanced.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 91/100 (Excellent wine)

About the wine:

Disgorged in 2022, the latest vintage of Charles Heidsieck NV Blanc de Blancs offers a captivating bouquet with aromas of honeysuckle, lemon oil, citrus, peach, mandarin, and delicate pastry notes, followed by a medium-bodied to full-bodied palate that is round and creamy, layered and elegant, finishing with chalky and brioche notes. A little time in the cellar will be more than beneficial.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 90/100

Rated estate (2024 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the wine:

This Blanc de Blancs exhibits a distinctively toasty profile resulting from aging on the lees. The nose offers notes of hazelnut, bread crumb, cereal, and brioche—the full range of expected aromas. The wine is round on the palate, though the dosage seems to dominate the flavor profile.

About the estate:

This small house, founded in 1851 in Reims and well known to discerning connoisseurs, owes its success to the style of its full-bodied, rounded champagnes. With a very high proportion of reserve wines in the blend (40%) and a bold dosage of 8g, Charles-Heidsieck’s non-vintage brut cultivates an original style, somewhat at odds with certain trends, yet with an undeniable personality. Since the house was acquired by the Descours family in 2011, a new era has begun for the house, which, without losing its soul, has returned to the forefront with a comprehensive and high-quality range of wines. A trajectory we reward with a second star.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 93/100

About the wine:

A magnificent bouquet of white flowers with aromas of candied lemon peel, accented by delicate notes of white bread and just a hint of toast. Generous yet elegant on the palate, with briny and chalky notes that develop beautifully, creating a lovely balance with the dosage in the polished, lingering finish

Jeb Dunnuck

Wine rated (2023 guide) 92/100

About the wine:

Made from Chardonnay grapes sourced from various terroirs across the region, it opens in the glass with more reserved and delicate aromas of citrus zest and white flowers, underpinned by a deeper mineral note. Juicy and full-bodied, it is more expressive on the palate, with notes of ripe fresh pear and a rounded, creamy texture. It is very appealing, and although it needs a little coaxing upon opening, it is a very seductive, ripe, and juicy Blanc de Blancs style that bears the Heidsieck signature. Best enjoyed between 2023 and 2030.
