“This 100% Chardonnay from the Sézanne region will be the perfect accompaniment to a seafood meal. Aromas of fresh wildflowers and orchards fill the nose. A hint of wax and resin adds a lovely touch to the overall profile. We are captivated by its balance, its structure, and its fiery vigor.” (RVF Magazine No. 646 - January 2021) The vineyard-specific approach!

About the estate:
A cooperative founded in 1963 by some twenty growers from the southern slopes of Sézanne, which at the time had few vineyards. The cooperative has grown alongside the expansion of vineyards: today it covers 150 hectares, predominantly planted with Chardonnay, and has 170 members. The wines are aged in the cellar for at least four years.

Rated estate (2021 guide) Recommended (Recommended)
About the wine:
This superb blanc de blancs, elegantly sealed with a wire clip, has spent four years in the cellar. The wine is beautiful, full-bodied, and crystal-clear—not at all ostentatious, but elegant and fresh. It offers lovely citrus notes and a beautiful freshness. On the palate, the wine is vibrant, well-balanced, and full-bodied.
About the estate:
Le Brun de Neuville is located in Bethon, in the Sézanne region, a few kilometers from Villeneuve-la-Grande. Here, the dominant grape variety is Chardonnay, just as in the renowned Côte des Blancs. Although less well-known, the Sézanne region nevertheless produces excellent grapes that reveal slightly more exotic aromas, with notes of pineapple and mango. Le Brun de Neuville is the brand of the Bethon cooperative winery, which today brings together 170 winegrowers and 150 hectares of vineyards. Often called “the little winery on the rise,” this cooperative produces fine vintages that are all aged for at least four years before being released for sale.

About the estate:
In a Champagne region where more and more producers are toning down their winemaking style to highlight the expression of the terroir, Le Brun de Neuville deserves special attention. This cooperative winery (300,000 bottles/year) uses only grapes from the Sézannais region, located southwest of Épernay, on the edge of the Aube department. A discreet corner prized by the major houses for their purchases of rich, smooth Chardonnays, yet whose bottles remain little known. Under the dynamic leadership of its president, Damien Champy, who arrived in 2008, Le Brun de Neuville produces clean, straightforward cuvées dominated by Chardonnay. The 2008 vintage marked the beginning of the progress seen over the past twelve years.

About the wine:
Partially aged in oak, this Champagne—made exclusively from grapes grown in the Côte de Sézanne vineyards—is brimming with rich Chardonnay. Notes of spice and toasted bread give way to textured flavors of white fruit. With a low dosage, bottle aging has softened and balanced the intense acidity.
