Bodega Mengoba
Bodegas y Viñedos Mengoba is owned by Gregory Pérez, a true enthusiast who began his career in 1998 at Château Cos d'Estounel. The estate's vineyards are spread across the terroirs of Espanillo, Valtuille, Villafranca Du Bierzo, and Carracedo, in the heart of the Bierzo appellation in Spain.
The soils are slate, limestone and rocky, and benefit from a mountainous climate with Atlantic influences. Three traditional grape varieties of the appellation thrive here: Godello and Doña Blanca, which produce the white wine of the Bodegas y Viñedos Mengoba estate, and Mencia, which is used to make the red Mengoba. The soil is worked in the traditional, purely artisanal way, with the help of two cows (Guinda and Jardinera), and phytosanitary treatments are naturally reduced thanks to the climatic conditions (altitude, ventilated areas, well-drained soil, etc.). The two wines from the Bodegas y Viñedos Mengoba estate are sure values among the wines of Bierzo!
