Catalonia
Catalonia is a designation of origin from the autonomous region of Catalonia, Spain. It is the historical name of the region, which covers approximately 330 municipalities, alongside ten other appellations, including the famous DO Cava. The DO Catalonia, like other appellations, allows for a very wide range of grape varieties, including some indigenous ones.

The region of Catalonia, with its contrasting terrain, enjoys a Mediterranean climate, but with significant variations that allow for the production of wines with very different characteristics.

The DO Cataluna produces red and white wines. DO Cataluna red wines are often made from Grenache, Monastrell, and Syrah grapes, but also from Merlot, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon. White wines mainly include Grenache Blanc, Muscadelle, Maccabeu, and sometimes Chardonnay. DO Cataluna wines are generally fruity and harmonious, very typical of their terroir.
