" Gem , which I discovered thanks to Tim Atkin's Top 100 last year, has now won over *The Wine Advocate* with its new 2024 vintage!"

“The 2024 Golerga Garnacha from the village of Lerga was made from grapes that, in the past, were used to produce rosé or blended with grapes from elsewhere. They have produced a refined red wine to showcase the character of this historic site—one that is fresher and has a mountainous character. [...] This wine has a more Atlantic feel, reflecting a rainy climate; it comes from a different area, the Baja Montaña, which overlooks the Pyrenees, and exhibits good ripeness as well as excellent balance. [...], it also exhibits very good freshness [...]. It is balanced and pure, with savory aromas and very fine, very elegant tannins. [...] 2025–2032” (Robert Parker 2025)

Wine rated (2025 guide) 95/100 (Extraordinary wine)

Estate rated "Recommended" (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker—The Wine Advocate)

About the wine:

Their 2024 Golerga Garnacha from the village of Lerga was made from grapes that, in the past, were used to produce rosé or blended with grapes from other regions. They have produced a refined red to showcase the character of this historic site, which is cooler and has a mountainous character. The vines grow at an altitude of about 600 meters in a rainier, higher, and more exposed area, making it one of the coolest locations for Garnacha. About 80% of the volume was fermented by plot in open tanks with 20% whole clusters, and the remaining grapes were destemmed and crushed in a 1,500-liter stainless steel tank. It aged in a combination of 500-liter barrels and concrete tanks. It rained heavily during the harvest, so they had to sort and select the grapes more carefully than usual for their region. This wine has a more Atlantic character, typical of a cooler climate; it comes from a different area, Baja Montaña, which overlooks the Pyrenees, and exhibits good ripeness but excellent balance. It has an alcohol content of 13.95%, but also displays very good freshness, a pH of 3.24, and an acidity of 5.6 grams. It is balanced and pure, with savory aromas and very fine, elegant tannins. 6,380 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2025. 2025–2032

About the wine:

With remarkable aromatic intensity, the Golerga 2024 reveals notes of black elderberry, aromatic herbs, and black fruits, with hints of rosehip, jam, cherry, and blood orange. Delicate in texture yet rich in flavor, the palate is marked by freshness and lively energy. The finish is long and slightly lingering, with impressive energy and persistence. This Garnacha, with its unique character, combines aromas of black fruits with a floral touch. 2026–2055
