Rating: Robert Parker 95/100
“Deep color, an already complex nose. More concentrated than the 2004 Reserva Especial, it has enough structure to continue evolving for another 6 to 8 years and should even be in top form for its 25th anniversary. As usual, Bodegas Altanza’s production for this vintage is first-rate. ” (Wine Advocate June 2011 - Robert Parker) A great Rioja Reserva from a great vintage!

A good wine, but one that has aged a bit too quickly. Round, not very full-bodied, with a slightly malty aroma. Best enjoyed soon.

A very good wine, light on the palate despite its alcohol content, with a lovely licorice finish; even better the next day.

The subtlety of this wine is a pleasant surprise.

A decent Rioja, but disappointing given the price. It lacks body on the palate, and the acidity is a bit too pronounced. It lacks "smoothness"!

The pronounced acidity in this eight-year-old wine is surprising. Then there’s the oak—it’s been aged well, but not much else.
