Bodegas Amaren

Bodegas Amaren was founded in 1995 by Luis Canas, owner of the eponymous winery, in honor of his mother, Ángeles. Amaren is dedicated to the pursuit of perfection in every aspect of winemaking—from the vineyard to grape selection, preparation, and aging—to produce wines of the highest possible quality that deliver maximum enjoyment.

The Bodegas Amaren vineyard is located in Villabuena, in the southern part of the province of Álava, mainly on slopes and terraces, sheltered to the north by the imposing Sierra Cantabria mountain range. It is in this region of Rioja Alavesa that the most ideal conditions for cultivating exceptional, high-quality vineyards are found. The vineyard comprises 22 hectares of vines over 60 years old and 30 hectares ranging from 30 to 60 years old, all meticulously tended.

The grapes are harvested by hand and placed in small crates.Bodegas Amaren is equipped with state-of-the-art winemaking facilities and ferments its wines in small stainless steel tanks or wooden vats, depending on the circumstances. Finally, Bodegas Amaren wines are aged in new French and American oak barrels made from the finest wood.
