Terrerazo
Terrerazo is a designation granted to a very limited production area within the municipality of Utiel, in the province of Valencia, Spain. It was awarded PDO status in September 2010, which is roughly equivalent to the former French designation of Vin de Pays. A rare phenomenon, though already known in France, the appellation actually covers only the 89 hectares of vineyards belonging to Bodegas Mustiguillo.

Located about 100 kilometers from the sea, the Terrerazo appellation enjoys a Mediterranean climate, despite being situated in one of Spain’s coolest regions. The vineyard is rooted in a sandy-clay limestone crust.

Thanks to the unique terroir of Bodegas Mustiguillo, the wines offer a variety of aromas derived from the diversity of the blends. Mestizaje is thus crafted from the appellation’s signature grape variety, Bobal, along with Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Shiraz. This youngest wine from Bodegas Mustiguillo is beautifully complemented by its older counterparts: Finca Terrerazo and the very rare Quincha Corral. Alongside these red wines, the estate offers a magnificent single-varietal white wine made from Merseguera: the Finca Calvestra.
