Ninkasi Brewery
Founded by Christophe Fargier and his American friend Kurt Huffman, Lyon’s first microbrewery opened in 1997 in the rapidly expanding Gerland neighborhood. They named it Ninkasi, after the goddess of beer in Sumerian mythology.

Since 2012, the Ninkasi brewery has been located in the former dye works of Tarare, fully renovated with an “Eiffel” steel structure that gives the brewery a unique character. The water in Tarare, sourced from the Joux Dam, is renowned for its purity and softness. It is ideal for brewing.

Ninkasi beers are brewed using exclusively natural ingredients: barley malt, hops, water, and yeast.

The Ninkasi brewery produces a pilsner, a wheat beer, a pale ale, a stout, a triple (Abbey Beer), an IPA (India Pale Ale), as well as limited-edition Grand Cru series and a Christmas beer.
