Ninkasi Brewery
Initiated by Christophe Fargier and his American friend Kurt Huffman, Lyon's first microbrewery was founded in 1997 in the rapidly expanding Gerland district. They named it Ninkasi, after the goddess of beer in Sumerian mythology.

Since 2012, the Ninkasi brewery has been located in the former dye works in Tarare, which have been completely renovated with an "Eiffel" metal structure that gives the factory its unique character. The water in Tarare, which comes from the Joux dam, is renowned for its purity and softness. It is ideal for brewing.

Ninkasi beers are made exclusively from natural ingredients: barley malt, hops, water, and yeast.

The Ninkasi brewery produces a lager (Pilsen), wheat beer, amber ale (Pale Ale), stout, triple (Abbey Beer), IPA (India Pale Ale), as well as limited edition Grand Cru beers and a Christmas beer.
