Clos de Gat
Le Clos de Gat is located in the foothills of the Judean Mountains, on the edge of the biblical Ayalon Valley. It takes its name from an ancient “Gat” (“wine press” in Hebrew) dating back to the Roman Empire, which lies at the heart of the estate’s vineyard.
Le Clos de Gat spans 19 hectares and benefits from a terroir that has been home to vineyards for several centuries. The region’s hills and valleys reveal a combination of fine-textured topsoil resting on limestone subsoil. The Clos de Gat vineyard is planted with international grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Syrah, and Chardonnay (as well as a small experimental proportion of Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier).
Clos de Gat’s wines are made using indigenous yeasts, which ensure greater complexity and a truer expression of the terroir.
