Assisi Rosso

Assisi Rosso is a Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) from the Umbria region in central Italy. The production area is limited to the two municipalities of Assisi and Spello, in the province of Perugia.

The Assisi Rosso vineyards stretch across the lush green hills and among the forests and mountains that characterize the Umbrian landscape. The combination of this terroir with Mediterranean-style climatic influences is particularly well-suited to local grape varieties, although producers also use non-native varieties. Thus, Assisi Rosso is primarily made from Sangiovese and Merlot.
