Domaine Claudio Icardi

The Claudio Icardi Estate was founded in 1914 in the town of Castiglione Tinella, at the border of two major wine-growing regions: Langa and Monferrato. Initially, the Claudio Icardi Estate produced grapes and sold them to winemakers. In the 1960s, Pierino Icardi decided to make his own wines and pursue absolute quality to best express the terroir where he cultivated his vines.

Today, his son Claudio Icardi and his daughter Mariagrazia are at the helm of the estate, which they manage with a masterful hand. Claudio, a trained oenologist, is known as the “pope of biodynamics” in Italy and regularly teaches courses at oenology universities in France as well. Of the estate’s 75 hectares of organically farmed vineyards, 10 hectares are cultivated biodynamically. The soils, composed of limestone and clayey marl, provide a truly distinctive terroir suited for great wines.
