Domaine Claudio Icardi

The Claudio Icardi estate was founded in 1914, in the commune of Castiglione Tinella, on the border between two great terroirs: Langa and Monferrato. Initially, the Claudio Icardi estate produced and sold grapes to winemakers. In the 1960s, Pierino Icardi decided to vinify his own wines and strive for absolute quality to best express the terroir on which he grew his vines.

Today, his son Claudio Icardi and his daughter Mariagrazia are at the helm of the estate, which they manage masterfully. Claudio, a trained oenologist, is known as the pope of biodynamic viticulture in Italy, and regularly lectures at oenology universities in France too. Of the estate's 75 hectares of organically grown vines, 10 ha are biodynamic. The soils are composed of limestone and clayey marl, giving the estate a real vocation as a specific terroir for great wines.
