Domaine Claudio Icardi

The Claudio Icardi estate was founded in 1914 in the municipality of Castiglione Tinella, on the border between two great terroirs: Langa and Monferrato. Initially, the Claudio Icardi estate produced and sold grapes to winemakers. In the 1960s, Pierino Icardi decided to make his own wines and strive for absolute quality in order to best express the terroir on which he cultivated his vines.

Today, his son Claudio Icardi and daughter Mariagrazia are at the helm of the estate, which they manage with a masterful hand. Claudio, a trained oenologist, is known as the pope of biodynamics in Italy and regularly gives courses at oenology universities in France. Of the estate's 75 hectares of organically cultivated vines, 10 hectares are farmed biodynamically. The soils, composed of limestone and clayey marl, provide a terroir that is truly suited to producing great wines.
