This winery is located 15 meters underground so that operations can rely solely on gravity and to ensure the optimal temperature and humidity conditions for proper wine aging.
The soil at the Fonterutoli estate consists of Alberese rock and sandstone. The estate covers 650 hectares, 117 of which are vineyards. The Fonterutoli vineyard is divided into 120 plots at altitudes ranging from 220 to 550 meters.
