Montepulciano d'Abruzzo

Abruzzo is a wine-producing region located in central Italy, at the same latitude as Rome, but along the Adriatic coast and south of the Marche region. Among Abruzzo’s wines, certain appellations stand out that are associated with grape varieties characteristic of Italy. Among these appellations is Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, which has been classified as a DOC (Denominazione di Origine Controllata) since 1968.

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is exclusively a red wine produced in the provinces of Chieti, L'Aquila, Pescara, and Teramo. In addition to the "Riserva" designation, which indicates the length of aging, Montepulciano d'Abruzzo red wine may bear two local appellations that define the vineyard's origin and even stricter production criteria: "Terre di Casauria" and "Terre dei Vestini" or Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Colline Teramane.

While Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is produced in large quantities, it does not compromise on quality, offering—depending on the terroir—a full-bodied, robust character and a certain aging potential. The wines from Villa Medoro will win over enthusiasts.
