Château d'Anglès
From Médoc to Languedoc... Éric Fabre, former technical director of Château Lafite-Rothschild, and his wife Christine Fabre, both from winegrowing families, undertook a meticulous search for a great terroir in Languedoc.
In 2001, in Saint-Pierre la Mer, in the La Clape terroir, they acquired and restructured the 45-hectare Château d'Anglès vineyard. This work focused in particular on rebalancing the traditional grape varieties: Mourvèdre, Syrah, Grenache, and Carignan for red wines, and Bourboulenc, Grenache, Roussanne, and Marsanne for white wines. Today, their son Vianney Fabre is continuing the Fabre family's winemaking heritage, having joined Château d'Anglès in 2010 to work in international marketing.
The Fabre family's vision proved to be correct, as the La Clape terroir was recognized as an AOC in 2015, becoming the first communal appellation in the Languedoc region.
