Château Kefraya - Plaine de la Bekaa Comte de M 2016
90/100
Robert Parker
“A complex tasting that reflects the diversity of Lebanon’s terroirs!”
"On the palate, the 2015 is lighter and fresher, while this wine is warmer, with riper fruit, and it integrates the oak a bit better. However, it isn't quite as graceful and refined overall. Personally, I would lean toward the 2015, but reasonable minds might disagree. It is more obvious in many respects, but it is also well-assembled and beautifully structured. It should age for another ten years or so, at least. 2023–2032” (Wine Advocate 2023)

About the wine:
The Comte de M 2016 is a 69/31 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah aged for 20 months in French oak barrels, almost all of which were new. It has an alcohol content of 14.1%. In stark contrast to the 2015 in terms of weather conditions, 2016 was a scorching vintage, during which we observed significant weather fluctuations. Given these unusual conditions, this vintage was aged longer in lightly toasted oak barrels. On the palate, the 2015 is lighter and fresher, while this wine is warmer, with riper fruit, and it integrates the oak a bit better. It is, however, not as graceful and refined overall. Personally, I would lean toward the 2015, but reasonable minds might disagree. It is more obvious in many respects, but it is also well-blended and beautifully structured. It should age for another ten years, at least. 2023–2032
