Rating: Le Point 15/20, Gault Millau 14.5/20
“This year, La Roulerie offers a top-tier Anjou made from very healthy and pure grapes. The rich, indulgent character is still there, with intense notes of blackcurrant and wild strawberries that generously envelop the tannins.”(Les Meilleurs Vins de France 2011 Gault Millau). Vinified by the talented Thierry Germain (Domaine des Roches Neuves), this 2009 is a wine that delivers immediate pleasure, combining finesse and elegance to delight our taste buds. A true favorite of the 1J1V team!

Bettane & Desseauve

Winery rated 1 star (A high-quality, recommended wine that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))

About the estate:

Philippe Germain—brother of Thierry Germain of the Domaine des Roches Neuves in Saumur-Champigny—also works with Chenin on schist soils! He cultivates 37 hectares organically (out of a total of 43) in a magnificent setting, with the château overlooking the Saint-Aubin valley. More delicate pressing, slightly less ripeness at harvest for the whites, and less sulfur during vinification were the adjustments that significantly advanced the estate, which joined the Germain family in 1996. Philippe took the reins in 2004 with the firm intention of elevating it to the highest level. Starting in 2010, a turning point became evident, and the wines gained depth and brilliance. It is a reliable choice, built on care and hard work—well done.

About the estate:

Run by Philippe and Marie Germain since 2004, Ch. de la Roulerie owes its reputation to the sweet wines produced in the village of Saint-Aubin-de-Luigné. The same meticulous standards are applied to the production of red wines. The vineyard, which is organically farmed, covers 40 hectares.
