Led by Philippe Germain, the Château de la Roulerie vineyard showcases the king of grape varieties in this Angevin region—Chenin—which finds an ideal partner in the clay-siliceous terroir of the Layon region. Skillfully vinified by his brother Thierry, this 2008 Anjou Blanc offers beautiful aromatic precision as well as exemplary purity and finesse. A superb success!

Bettane & Desseauve
Winery rated 1*Star (A high-quality, recommended wine that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))
About the estate:
Philippe Germain—brother of Thierry Germain of the Domaine des Roches Neuves in Saumur-Champigny—also works with Chenin on schist-based terroirs! He cultivates 37 hectares organically (out of a total of 43) in a magnificent setting, with the château overlooking the Saint-Aubin valley. More delicate pressing, slightly less ripeness at harvest for the whites, and less sulfur during vinification were the adjustments that significantly advanced the estate, which joined the Germain family in 1996. Philippe took the reins in 2004 with the firm intention of elevating it to the highest level. Starting in 2010, a turning point became evident, and the wines gained depth and brilliance. It is a reliable choice, driven by care and hard work—well done.

Rated estate Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About the estate:
Run by Philippe and Marie Germain since 2004, Ch. de la Roulerie owes its reputation to the sweet wines produced in the village of Saint-Aubin-de-Luigné. The same meticulous standards are applied to the production of red wines. The vineyard, which is organically farmed, covers 40 hectares.
