"This delicious Bourgueil will delight both your taste buds and your wallet!"

"Favorite its very first vintage, 2018—the year the estate was founded—Alexis Boucard continues to make a name for itself. Its aptly named Cuvée No. 1, crafted from venerable Cabernet Franc vines rooted in clay and silica soils, boasts a deep red hue with violet highlights, worthy of haute couture. Upon aeration, lively aromas of red and black fruits delight the nose. On the palate, this radiant Bourgueil boasts beautiful texture—full-bodied, rich, and smooth—infused with flavors of strawberry and cherry. A well-rounded, generous wine, already highly enjoyable, and set to age gracefully for several more years.” (Le Guide Hachette 2025).

This wine has the characteristic terroir-driven flavor of Cabernet Franc, followed by a silky finish. A great success.

Review by Mr. GILLES D. Posted on 12/14/2024

With its lively, smooth profile, No. 1 offers a delicate, natural flavor dominated by crisp fruit, set against a fresh backdrop. No tannins or complexity, but with a lovely roundness, plenty of lightness, and a medium finish of cherry and strawberry. Designed to be enjoyed quickly with friends for simple pleasure alongside pizza or charcuterie, particularly cold or hot Breton andouille. Light in the glass and on the wallet. Score = 3.7.
