Domaine Fabrice Gasnier
The Domaine Fabrice Gasnier has been a family-owned estate for four generations, situated around the village of Chezelet in the municipality of Cravant-les-Coteaux. Since 2000, it has been run by Fabrice and Sandrine Gasnier, who led the transition to organic farming. The Domaine Fabrice Gasnier is now ECOCERT-certified. To take things a step further, the entire estate has now transitioned to biodynamic farming and is Demeter-certified.
The vineyards of Domaine Fabrice Gasnier cover 27 hectares planted with Cabernet Franc. It sits on two types of soil: a gravelly, stony soil (this rock has the unique property of storing heat during the day and releasing it at night), and a soil composed of clay and sand (this soil forces the vines to draw their nutrients from deep underground). The subsoil, meanwhile, consists solely of limestone, known as Touraine tufeau. All work in the vineyard is done by hand.
The Chinon wines from Domaine Fabrice Gasnier contain no added yeast; they ferment using natural yeasts. The fermentation process is gentle and steady, much like the estate’s terroirs.
