Domaine Fabrice Gasnier
The Fabrice Gasnier Estate has been a family-owned property for four generations, situated around the village of Chezelet in the municipality of Cravant-les-Coteaux. Since 2000, it has been run by Fabrice and Sandrine Gasnier, who led the transition to organic farming. The Estate Fabrice Gasnier is now ECOCERT-certified. To take things even further, the entire estate has now transitioned to biodynamic farming and is Demeter-certified.
The vineyards of Domaine Fabrice Gasnier cover 27 hectares planted with Cabernet Franc. It sits on two types of soil: a gravelly, stony soil (this rock has the unique ability to store heat during the day and release it at night), and a soil composed of clay and sand (this soil forces the vines to draw their nutrients from deep underground). The subsoil, meanwhile, consists entirely of limestone, known as Touraine tufeau. All work in the vineyard is done by hand.
The Chinon wines from Domaine Fabrice Gasnier contain no added yeast; they ferment using natural yeasts. The fermentation process is gentle and steady, reflecting the character of the estate’s terroirs.
