Domaine Fabrice Gasnier
The Fabrice Gasnier Estate has been a family-owned property for four generations, located around the village of Chezelet in the municipality of Cravant-les-Coteaux. Since 2000, it has been managed by Fabrice and Sandrine Gasnier, who led the transition to organic farming. The Estate Fabrice Gasnier is now “ECOCERT”-certified. To take things even further, the entire estate has now transitioned to biodynamic farming and is “Demeter”-certified.
The vineyards of Domaine Fabrice Gasnier cover 27 hectares, planted with Cabernet Franc. The soil consists of two types: gravel and pebbles (this rock has the unique ability to store heat during the day and release it at night), and a mixture of clay and sand (this type of soil forces the vines to draw nutrients from deep within the ground). The subsoil, meanwhile, consists entirely of limestone, known as Touraine tufeau. All work in the vineyard is done by hand.
The Chinon wines from Domaine Fabrice Gasnier contain no added yeast; they ferment using natural yeasts. The fermentation process is gentle and steady, much like the estate’s terroirs.
