Domaine Fabrice Gasnier
Domaine Fabrice Gasnier has been a family estate for four generations, located around the village of Chezelet, in the commune of Cravant-les-Coteaux. Since 2000, it has been run by Fabrice and Sandrine Gasnier, who have turned the estate over to organic farming. The estate Fabrice Gasnier is now "ECOCERT" certified. To take things a step further, the entire estate has now gone biodynamic, with Demeter certification.
The Domaine Fabrice Gasnier vineyard covers 27 hectares, planted with Cabernet Franc. It is planted on two types of soil: gravel and pebbles (this rock has the particularity of storing heat during the day and releasing it at night), and clay and sand (this soil forces the vines to draw their nourishment from deep underground). The subsoil is composed entirely of limestone, known as Touraine tufa. All work in the vineyard is carried out by hand.
Domaine Fabrice Gasnier's Chinon wines are fermented using natural yeasts, with no added yeast. Fermentation is gentle and regular, reflecting the terroirs of the estate.
